8.30am – 3.30pm Princes Highway, Cobargo Cobargo’s talent and uniqueness will be centre stage on Saturday 6th December when stall holders from Cobargo and surrounding districts showcase their handmade and home grown products, especially catering for the Christmas season. The inaugural Olga Masters Festival will be held at venues in Cobargo & Bermagui during the second week of October. The journalist & author Olga Masters lived and worked in Cobargo around 1928 and several of her books, such as The Home Girls and The Years That Made Us, are based on local characters. The key Festival events include: 10th October, 4 pm: Announcement of the winner of the Olga Masters short story award at the Bermagui Library. 11th October, 10:30 am: Unveiling of a plaque honouring Olga (outside Well Thumbed Books in Cobargo). 11th October, midday: Lunch & judging of the cheesecake & corn beef & pickle competition (at the Showground pavilion). 11th October, afternoon: Panel discussions with Bob Ellis and several of Olga Masters' children (Roy, Ian and Chris) at Well Thumbed Books. 12th October, morning: Storytelling & performance, featuring music by 'Hetty Kate' and 'The Jazz Pack' at the Four Winds site at Barragga Bay. This will include a reading of Olga's radio play by her daughters Sue and Deb Masters, along with several panel discussions. 12th October, afternoon: 'Roy Masters Live' at the Bermagui Hotel, a fundraising event for CRABS.
